iPad Time and Updating

iPad Time
Have your students noticed that their iPad times are 2 hours off? Don't worry, there is a way they can fix it. Follow these steps and put the iPad back into the correct timezone.

  1. Go to settings
  2. Select Privicy
  3. Tap "Locations Services"
  4. Turn the switch "on"
    1. The time may adjust at this point, if not continue to follow the steps
  5. Go back to "General"
  6. Select "Time and Date"
  7. Turn off "Automatic"
  8. Manually put into the Chicago Time zone
  9. Turn Automatic switch back on.
  10. Mission Complete!
As always, if you need help with this, never hesitate to ask your tech team. It is also fun to ask students why they think the iPad is set to that time zone, and why does it choose Cupertino as the default city? If you did not know the reason is because Apple Headquarters is in Cupertino, CA.

If you have not had the chance to yet, please come and trade up to you new iPad. It only takes a few minutes and we can help you backup any information that you need. There are some updates about to be released and you will want the latest technology to support your teaching, and try some new things that could revolutionize your classroom and/or life!

Updating Your Computer
While it is always a good idea to keep you devices up to date, sometimes the applications you use on your device is not. As Apple gets ready to release some updates for our devices, be mindful that somethings may not be exactly the same. On you School Issued Device, please hold off on updating to the latest iOS (iOS 12) out now and Mac OS (Mojave) to be released on 9/24. Let me test and see if there are issues before you try. I will give it about a week, and I will advise to update.

Like I mentioned before, there are many cool features that could have an impact on what you do so check it out! I always love sitting and discussing how some of the latest features can be used in your classroom with students!

If you have questions, let me know!
